Christmas? Bah humbug!

CHRISTMAS has fallen fairly kindly for us this year and for a change I won't spend all the time being portrayed as Scrooge. At least I hope not.
It sounds a bit naff I know, but we have to carry on regardless no matter what the time of year because we are only as good as our next paper.

The festive season is no different. The North Wales Weekly News and all its sister titles will be appearing as usual in the week between Christmas and New Year.
Sorry, that's not quite true. In fact all our titles will come out one day later than normal in Christmas week - the Visitors and Mails on Thursday, December 28, and the North Wales Weekly News and the Caernarfon Herald on Friday, December 29.
This is to give our commercial teams a little more leeway with deadlines and to give advertisers more time to get copy and artwork to us while wading through all the turkey and mince pies.
There is a strong argument voiced by the traditionalists among us against changing publication days, but this particular switch has brought an unexpected bonus for our reporters, photographers and sub-editors so I can't say I've heard them complaining too loudly. Plenty of moans about everything else yes, but not about this.
That's because other things being equal they can spend Christmas Day at home with their families and friends and forget the pressure of deadlines for 24-hours. Did I say at home? More likely down the pub.
Spoiling them aren't we? Mind you, on Boxing Day I'm back to being Scrooge and they'll be hard at work bringing you your favourite newspaper. I can't wait!
