Preview of this Thursday's paper

SINCE the new retail park opened at Llandudno last October, there's been great interest in the resort as North Wales's premier shopping hub.

Sure, there are drawbacks to having a brand new glossy retail park - just ask the small retailers on Upper Mostyn Street - but by and large the interest and added footfall Parc Llandudno brings to the town can only be for the good in the long run.

This Thursday's Weekly News gives every reader the chance to win a £250 shopping spree at Parc Llandudno's hugely successful Debenhams store. Only readers of the Weekly News will have the chance to enter this prize draw, with no strings attached - all you have to do is fill out the form in this Thursday's edition and pop it in the entry box in store before Sunday.

We also have a news focus on the impending smoking ban, which comes into force in Wales next Monday (April 2 ). We've also addressed some of the grey areas surrounding the ban, such as who actually enforces this legislation, and what powers a publican has when there's somebody blatantly chugging away on a fag in their bar and refuses to stub it out.

We've got more news from our Hands Off Our Hospital campaign, which seems to have become so popular and well-supported that the Llandudno Hospital Action Group has been accused of politicising the campaign. Plaid Cymru Asembly election candidate Gareth Jones has even gone as far as getting permission to be recognised as a hospital campaigner on ballot papers... Our editor Alan Davies will be giving his opinion on this interesting twist in events this Thursday.

And in among all the other local news, pictures and sport we'll have a bumper School Report, with loads of photos from schools across the county, a regular feature we intend to have every week during school term time. If you have any news from your or your children's school, give us a call or e-mail us and we'll sort out some publicity and coverage.
