LLANDUDNO Cricket club took the game by storm last year, winning the Welsh Cup for the first time in their history as well being crowned North Wales Premier League champions for the second time in three years.
And the club's Australian-born Director of Cricket Steve Smith says the club is looking to dominate the game for the next four of five years under the new captaincy of 20-year-old Aled Williams.
"It didn't really sink in until Christmas that we are Welsh champions, but once you get a taste of success on the big stage like we did by winning the Welsh Cup final in Cardiff last year, then you want more of it - and I can see that hunger in the boys in pre-season training," he says.
With the new cricket season just over a month away, Steve gives his views of Llandudno's hunt for more success in this week's Weekly News and gives news of the club's exciting new overseas professional from Sydney who Steve believes could be the best signing the club has ever made.
There is also pre-season news from Colwyn Bay, who had their best ever season in the Liverpool and District Competition last year, and Llanrwst, who have signed a Sri Lankan overseas player to help them bounce straight back after being relegated from the North Wales Premier League last season.
The Ladies take centre stage in this week's Weekly News. Colwyn Bay's hockey women have booked another trip to Cardiff after reaching the final of the Welsh Shield for the fourth year running, while Colwyn Bay Ladies footballers had a seven goal win as they warmed-up to play Cardiff City this Sunday in the semi-finals of the Welsh Women's FA Cup.
There is a report on Llandudno's 3-1 win over Buckley Town in the Cymru Alliance on Tuesday, team news for Colwyn Bay's key game at Ossett Albion, and a full round-up of all the local football, golf, snooker, pool, darts and dominoes results - plus the popular Junior Sports page with news, pictures and results.
Please note: The Junior Sports page is over-subscribed most weeks due to the interest it creates and the amount of material submitted. So if your item or picture has not appeared yet, please be patient and it will get in over the next few weeks.
