By Richard Evans, reporter

PROBABLY the best thing about being a reporter on a local newspaper is that we are given real freedom to write, investigate or promote something of a worthwhile cause which is close to our hearts.
I’m not saying we get to plug anything we like, because we don’t, so if any beauty therapists, mobile reflexologists or newly-founded herbal pro-biotic wonder diet companies are reading this - we really don’t!
Charities, on the other hand, are a totally different kettle of fish, and what more deserving charity is there in Conwy county than Ty Gobaith, the hospice in the Conwy Valley which looks after critically ill children and their families?
And being a football fan, what could be a better task than organising a charity match between a Weekly News/ Daily Post XI and a team made up of retired professionals and soccer-loving celebs?
I don’t know what's a bigger task - organising the thing (which is penned in for Llandudno Football Club on August 5) or posing a bunch of out of shape desk-jockeys against what were once some of the world’s elite.
Anyway, we have relative youth and five months of preparation on our side. Keep checking the Weekly News to find out who we’ll be playing. I’ve currently got some real world class players lined up, if they don’t back out. I’m yet to have everyone confirmed in writing, but one thing's for sure - Big Brother’s Glyn Wise won’t be playing because apparently football "is not his thing"!
