THIS week we are most proud of our association with the toughest Time Lord on the block, Doctor Who!
We've teamed up with BBC Wales to offer readers the chance of winning 240 tickets to an exclusive premiere screening of episode eight of the current series, before it has appeared on TV.
The BBC Wales roadshow is currently making Colwyn Bay its home, and as part of the activities it is premiering Human Nature at Theatr Colwyn on May 19th.
Doctor Who is big business, of course, but people in Wales should be extra proud of it because it is made in Wales, by the BBC in Cardiff. Although the revived Doctor Who has yet to travel north to film on location, the family series does have links to the region, stemming back 40 years to when Second Doctor Patrick Troughton filmed in Snowdonia (doubling for Tibet!).
Fourth Doctor Tom Baker filmed at Portmeirion (doubling for 15th century Italy!) in 1976, while Fifth Doctor Peter Davison also hit the Snowdonian foothills while filming the series' 20th anniversary tale The Five Doctors in 1983. It just goes to show how flexible North Wales can be as a filming location, because for this episode Snowdonia doubled as the Doctor's home planet of Gallifrey!
The Weekly News is pleased to welcome BBC Wales and Doctor Who to North Wales, but if readers miss out on winning one of the 120 family tickets we're giving away this week, don't fret - there's a second chance to win just as many again in our May 3rd edition.
I've said it before, and I'll say it again - without us, you're missing something BIG!
